Tips for cleaning, uses, and dealing with hard water buildup:
You'll find the beautiful mirror finish is very easy to keep clean. For finger prints and mild spots, just wipe with a damp cloth, and dry with a clean towel. You'll find it much easier to keep clean than the brushed stainless on most modern kitchen ranges and other appliances.
We do not recommend using these kettles over an open fire, but if you do you will have black soot residues on the bottom and sides. You can reduce or eliminate this by placing the kettle on a cast iron plate propped on one side of the fire, Using any kettles over extremely high heat can sometimes warp the bottoms.
If you have "hard" water, you'll notice a buildup of hard water deposits over time. (This true for any other pots, too.) You can remove this periodically by filling it with distilled white vinegar and letting it set for and hour or so, then drain, wipe the inside with a paper towel, and rinse thoroughly. We recommend that you do this often so that removing the residue will be easier and faster. I do mine once a week and sometimes more often if I'm using it a lot. You can re-use the vinegar for other cleaning purposes, so save it in a special container marked "Used White Vinegar". I use it in every laundry load for example.
