Our NOW Real Food certified Organic Light Agave Nectar, a low-glycemic natural sweetener is pure Agave Nectar with no HGCS* or preservatives. Called "honey water" in some Latin American cultures, it is oddly enough sometimes also called "tequila"! The Ancient Aztecs used it extensively and sometimes referred to it as "food for the gods". It's mild flavor makes it a good substitute for refined sugar and maple syrup. You'll find it tastes slightly sweeter and lighter than refined sugar with a taste more like honey. We use it a lot in just about any application that needs just a little sweetening. Because it doesn't hit the blood stream as fast as refined sugar and has a lower glycemic level, it doesn't normally create the high/low blood sugar swings that refined sugar does*.
